Not really sure where to begin, it's still quite a blur as to what actually happened in our very first game, and in what order it actually played out. However, thinking back to this moment in time still makes me smile from ear to ear, we have some great photos to look back on and more so, a team who shown that they actually knew what to do when the time came.
Standing there waiting for the first jam was both exciting and nerve wracking, when that first whistle went we stood our ground and dug in to hold off the other team’s jammer. The first few jams were a bit fast paced, blurred and the focus was purely on scoring points.
Half way through the first half our team began talking about various tactics and one was to slow down the game so we could hold on to the oppositions' jammer for longer then call off jams before they could even score. This required 100% team effort and worked great for a lot of the time, as did clearing the way for our own jammers!
No sooner had the match began that it seemed to end, what we did learn was that we had an amazing time and it was not quite as nerve wracking as people had presumed it would be. More so, we are a great team with a diverse bunch off players who have all have shown willing and commitment and, more importantly, who attribute a variety of skills, knowledge, encouragement, and friendships. I think I can safely say on behalf of all who played that we are truly looking forward to the future, playing many more matches and developing as a team.
Importantly it's not just about the game it's about the greatness of being a part of something... and that something is PCRD.
